O Mother whose feet (padA) are worshipped (vandita) by the brave (dhIra) subrahmaNya (kumAra)! O Dark tressed (vENI) like rain-cloud (nIrada)! Aren’t (gadA) You (nIvu) the Mother (janani) of three Worlds (tri-lOka)?
O Mother whose auspicious (Subha) stories (caritA) are extolled (nuta) by nArada and others (Adi) (nAradAdi)! O Benevolent (udAra) natured (guNavatI)! I sought (aNTi) Your feet (pada) lotus only (abjamulE) (padAbjamulE) as my refuge (SaraNu) (SaraNaNTi).

Variations - (Pathanthara)
1 - nE moraliDagA – It is given as ‘nA moraliDagA’ in all books. The meaning derived is ‘don’t I plead?’ However, for such a meaning, it should be ‘nE’ and not ‘nA’. Further, ‘nA moraliDagA’ does not convey any complete meaning. Therefore, ‘nE moraliDagA’ been adopted here.
Alternatively, it could be ‘nA mora vinadA’ or ‘nA mora vinavA’. However, from the prAsa-anuprAsa point of view, ‘va’ should come as a second syllable of this line.
